It’s been a whirlwind Spring heading into Summer, and I’m finally catching my breath long enough to share some recent images I shot for a local political campaign.
Ian Baltutis is running for NC House District 63 in Alamance County. If you live in the area, you might already know him—Ian is a former mayor, a serial entrepreneur, and the co-owner of Persnickety Books in downtown Burlington.

The Strategy: Building a Diverse Visual Inventory
Ian’s campaign manager needed a deep inventory of high-quality visual assets to fuel their campaign website, direct mailers, and social media channels. To make the portfolio look organic and varied, we planned a fast-paced day involving multiple location changes, wardrobe updates, and a heavy dose of adapting to outdoor environmental variables.

Capturing the Community Spirit
We started the session at Ian’s bookstore, which provided the perfect, authentic backdrop for capturing community conversations and dynamic "stump speech" style shots.
From there, we transitioned to the Burlington Arboretum at Willowbrook Park. If you are ever looking for a beautiful location for family photos in Alamance County, this park is an absolute gem. It gave us a softer, community-focused environment that contrasted perfectly with the bustling energy of the indoor bookstore shots.

Behind the Lens
Overall, this was a fantastic, fast-paced commercial photoshoot that kept me on my toes. Being "on" and maintaining creative energy for several hours straight is always a test of endurance, but seeing the final gallery come together makes it entirely worth it.
Best of luck to Ian in his campaign leading up to the November election!
