The first day of school has a way of reminding parents just how quickly our kids are growing up. One moment they’re tugging at your hand to walk into kindergarten, and before you know it, they’re heading off to middle school with their backpack slung over one shoulder. Childhood really does feel like a blur—and we only get so many seasons together before the landscape of family life shifts.
That’s why photographs matter. They become more than just images; they’re time-capsules of giggles, missing teeth, and the quirks that make your family unique right now. As much as we all love the snapshots on our phones, a professional session is an opportunity to step out from behind the camera, be present with your family, and create heirloom-quality portraits that will last long after this season has passed.
Why Fall?
Autumn is my favorite time of year for family portraits here in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Durham. The vibrant colors, softer light, and cooler air create the perfect backdrop for playful, relaxed sessions. The leaves change quickly—and so do our kids—making fall the ideal season to pause and capture your family just as you are.
Fall photos are also perfectly timed for holiday cards and meaningful gifts. And this year, all of my mini-sessions will be held at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Carrboro, a beautiful open space just minutes from Chapel Hill and Durham.
